Around the Dordogne Area

Thiviers, the capital of the Foie Gras and now one of the best areas for carp fishing in the Dordogne, is our local market town it is a lively little place especially on a Saturday when it holds its weekly market giving you a large selection of varied food from the local farmers. The town has a good selection of shops including 4 supermarkets so you will have no trouble in finding everything you require.

One of the winding streets through the town of Thiviers with its cafes and bars where you can have a drink and sit and watch the world go by.

You could also visit Brantome Brantome - Carp Fishing in the Dordogne called the venice of the Perigord another very picturesque town that has a large market every Friday.

There are a lot of other places to go to see different things like the magnificent Chateau's of Jumilhac Chateau Jumilhac - Carp Fishing in the Dordogne

and Hautefort, Chateau Hautefort - Carp Fishing in the Dordogne or visit St Jean de Cole, rated as one of the most prettiest villages in France.

Also within 40 to 45 minutes drive is the large city of Limoges famous for its pottery and the city of Perigueux, both of these cities have excellent shopping, with large supermarkets and beautiful architecture.
